What is said here about GPT4All was read on its own pages on September 26, 2026: github.com/nomic-ai/gpt4all/releases/tag/v3.10.0, docs.gpt4all.io/gpt4all_desktop/localdocs.html, github.com/nomic-ai/gpt4all/blob/main/gpt4all-chat/system_requirements.md. It may have changed since.

Choose Twoody if…

  • your documents include scans, and you want answers that cite file and page;
  • you want to dictate your questions, transcribed on the computer;
  • you want an app that keeps getting new versions and new models.

Choose GPT4All if…

  • you need Windows on ARM, or a publicly released app on Windows or Linux today (Twoody is in private beta there);
  • your Mac runs macOS 12;
  • you also want cloud models, with your own API key.

Or both

Both are free, need no account, and run their models on your computer. If you already use GPT4All, Twoody is the app for your documents, voice included, and scans included on a Mac; on Windows and Linux, Twoody is in private beta.

Frequently asked questions

Is GPT4All still updated?

Its latest version, 3.10.0, was published in February 2025, and none has followed by September 2026, according to its GitHub page.

Do both answer questions about my documents?

Yes. GPT4All's LocalDocs indexes folders on your computer and names the files it used; its documentation says nothing of scans. Twoody reads whole folders, scans included, and cites file and page.

Can I speak my questions?

In Twoody, yes: voice messages are transcribed on the computer. We found no voice input in GPT4All.

Twoody is in private beta.

On Mac, Windows and Linux, free, with no account and no subscription — and on iPhone and Android, with Twoody on your computer. Leave your email: we will write to you when Twoody opens to you.
